Founding Sales Representative

Independent contractor · 1099 · Commission only · Remote & field

What you'll do

  • ✓Reach out to equine businesses — vets, farriers, trainers, feed stores, boarding stables, builders, event venues, rescues — and walk them through the sign-up
  • ✓Represent Horsesource USA at horse shows, rodeos, fairs, and feed-store community boards
  • ✓Build relationships in your local equine community and follow up consistently
  • ✓Help vendors complete their listings — basic photo and category guidance
  • ✓Report your activity weekly so we can support you and refine the program together

Who we're looking for

  • ✓You know the horse world — or want to. Familiar faces in feed stores, vet clinics, or barns is a huge plus
  • ✓Comfortable picking up the phone or walking into a tack shop with a flyer
  • ✓Self-starter — you set your own hours, plan your own week, and don't need to be micromanaged
  • ✓Honest, reliable, and easy to work with. We're a small team and culture matters
  • ✓18 or older, US-based, and have an active Stripe-payable bank account for commission deposits

COMPENSATION

20% Commission

flat rate on every vendor sale — no tiers, no caps, no fine print

Real-world earnings

$120/yr listing → $24 commission
$240/yr listing → $48 commission
$360/yr listing → $72 commission

Paid quarterly via direct deposit. 1099-NEC issued at year-end for commissions over $600.

Common Questions

Is this a full-time job?

No — this is a 1099 independent contractor role. You set your own hours and pace. Most founding members work this alongside their existing role in the equine industry. Some weeks might be heavy (a horse show weekend), others lighter. It's flexible by design.

How does commission tracking work?

Each rep gets a unique referral code (your name, usually). When a vendor uses your code at checkout, every dollar of that sale is tagged to you in our system. You don't have to track anything manually. Commissions are paid quarterly via direct deposit.

Do I need sales experience?

Not formally. What matters more is that you understand horse people, you're comfortable striking up conversations, and you can follow up reliably. We provide scripts, FAQs, and ongoing training. We're more interested in hustle and authenticity than a fancy resume.

What does "founding member" mean exactly?

It means you're one of the first reps building this thing. You'll be publicly recognized as a founder of the Horsesource USA sales team, get direct access to the company's founders, and earn the flat 20% commission for as long as you're on the team. Limited spots — once we fill the founding team, future hires won't carry the founding member designation.

Can I sell in my home state only, or anywhere?

Anywhere in the US. We'd love your home state to be your strongest area, but you can also work events outside it (we'll often coordinate booth coverage at major regional shows).

When and how am I paid?

Commissions are paid out quarterly via direct deposit. You'll receive a 1099-NEC at year-end for any commissions over $600. We'll need a W-9 from you when you sign on.
